30 Rules of Success That You Probably Don't Know

Many of life’s essential truths need repeating. We need reminders that help us to stay focused on them. Keep these truths handy and they’re sure to give you a much-needed boost.

1. Great success is often preceded by failure.
2. Change is inevitable, embrace it. Only when you embrace change can you find the good in it.
3. Fear is the No. 1 source of regret. The worst thing that can happen to you is allowing yourself to die inside while you’re still alive.
4. You’ll lose some friends in the meanwhile Losing some friends in the process is an inevitable happening
5. You will have to sacrifice things
6. You’re only as good as those you associate with. You should strive to surround yourself with people who inspire you, people who make you want to be better.
7. Lots of tough decisions Across your journey to success, you’ll have to make a lot of decisions. Some of them might turn out to be irrelevant, while some might turn out to be critical.
8. You don’t have to wait for an apology to forgive. When you forgive someone, it doesn’t condone their actions; it simply frees you from being their eternal victim.
9. You must be adaptable and flexible Life never turns out exactly how we imagine. Things go crazy sometimes, and we must find the way through.
10. Being busy does not equal being productive. Success doesn’t come from movement and activity. It comes from focus
11. What looks good to others is less important than how it feels to you
12. Extrinsic rewards such as money, status, and fame do not make you happy.
13. You’re living the life you’ve created. No one can force you to make decisions and take actions that run contrary to your values and aspirations
14. Other people's advice is often just a regurgitation of what worked for them. If it doesn't feel right to you, don't take it.
15. You often need support rather than advice.
16. Live in the moment. You can’t reach your full potential until you learn to live your life in the present.
17. Comparing yourself to others is never helpful
18. Failures are to be celebrated and learned from.
19. Life is short. None of us are guaranteed a tomorrow.
20. Happiness is a practice that everyone can learn.
21. Start small and build from there
22. The hardest lesson to learn is when to keep going and when to quit. No one can teach you that. At some point, you have to choose
23. Knowing who you are, and more specifically your zone of genius, is a critical piece of having work you love.
24. Loving work is an essential part of creating the kind of success that won't cause stress, exhaustion, and burn out.
25. Surround yourself with positive people and you’ll have a positive outcome.
26. The only way to stay fresh is to keep learning new things.
27. Be patient with yourself at the hard times
28. Learn how to respectfully, but firmly, say “no.”
29. No matter how successful you get, you can still fail and fail big. Failure isn’t a bad thing. It’s part of the process.
30. If there is one secret to success, it’s this: communicate your plans with other people and keep communicating those plans.
