Q. Music obviously affects us. What instruments affect which parts of our bodies? 
A. Drums affect near the base of spine.
Trumpets and the bigger wind instruments vibrate around the genitals and abdomen
String instruments with a metallic sound affect navel to heart
The smaller flutes and the piano affect heart to throat 
Throat to eye brow center resonate with bells, sound of water, birdsong, the more soft and subtle sounds
The top of the head, mostly silence resonates there!
Purpose of sound is to create Harmony, create Silence.
It's amazing to notice that when you go to a temple, you will see that the drums are kept at the periphery, next the big wind instruments and so on until you come to the sanctum sanctorum where you will find only bells.
