Behavioral Psychology You Should Know.

 1. Bandwagon Effect.

- You are more likely to adopt an idea or belief as it increases in popularity among people. When everyone is doing something, there is pressure to conform. For Eg., You begin wearing a certain style of clothing as you see others adopt the same fashions.

2. Forer Effect or Barnum Effect. - You easily attribute your personalities to vague statements, even if they can apply to a wide range of people. For Eg., Reading your horoscope in a newspaper and realizing it's surprisingly accurate.

3. Dunning Kruger Effect. - You overestimate your abilities when you know nothing, but you underestimate your abilities when you know everything. For Eg., People who know relatively little about politics and government are more likely than others to overestimate their knowledge

4. Gambler's Fallacy. - You think future possibilities are affected by past events. For Eg., "I've flipped heads with this coin five times consecutively, so the chance of tails coming out on the sixth flip is much greater than heads."

5. Bystander Effect. - When an emergency situation occurs, you are more likely to take action if there are few or no witnesses. In case of a large crowd, You are less likely to take action For eg., You are less likely to help a victim when there are other people present to help.

6. Stereotyping. - You judge a person based on preconceived ideas or images regarding the behavior and characteristics of a particular group. For Eg., a Person wearing glasses will be preconceived as a nerd.

7. Anchoring Bias. - You rely too heavily on one piece of information when making decisions (usually the first piece of information acquired on that subject) For eg., If you first see a T-shirt that costs $500, then see one that costs $100, you see the second shirt as cheap.

8. Hindsight Bias. - You tend to see past events as being predictable at the time those events happened. For Eg., Before the Event: I think this stock will increase in value but I am not sure. After the stock rises by 50%: I knew it would rise. I was certain.

9. Diderot Effect. - If you buy something new, you will feel compelled to buy more items that are related to the new one. For Eg., You buy a new dress and now you have to get accessories to match.

10. Sleeper Effect. - You get a delayed change in your attitude when you are persuaded by an advertisement or a message, over time even though you are against it at first. For Eg., an Intentional portrait of a negative image about one candidate by another during elections.
