8 Lessons I learned from “The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck”

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is described as a self-help book for people who hate self-help books.

Technically, it’s advertised as a generation-defining guide to life.

While the majority of your decision making years are still ahead of you gives you time to consider his suggestions carefully to ensure you’re living life as happily and freely as possible. Here are 8 notable lessons from this book:

1.Happiness is not something that is magically bestowed upon you. You won’t find happiness waiting for you. Instead, happiness is a constant work-in-progress. True happiness is a positive emotion that you’re rewarded with after taking the proper action when faced with a problem.

2. If you want the end reward, you have to be willing to struggle for it. You can’t want the result but not the process it takes to get to the end result. The most simple and basic component of life is that your struggles determine your successes.

3. It’s critical to set appropriate values for situations and measure them by appropriate metrics. What is objectively true about a situation you’re in is not as important as how you choose to measure the situation and value it.

4. Things go wrong. People upset you. Accidents happen. Denying your negative emotions will only perpetuate problems, rather than solve them. Instead, you need to express your negative emotions in a healthy and appropriate way that aligns with your values.

5. When you have poor values, you give f*cks about things that don’t matter and only make life worse. But, when you have better values, you divert your f*cks toward things that improve your state of well-being, generate happiness, increase pleasure, and lead to success.

6. While you cannot always control what happens to you, you can always control how you interpret what happens to you and how you respond. You are always making choices about things to give a f*ck about, whether you realize it or not.

7. The more often you choose to accept responsibility in your life, the more power you will exercise over your life. Responsibility results from choices you’re currently making in the present.

8. Sometimes life sucks, and that’s actually okay. Suffering is biologically useful, as it’s nature’s preferred agent for inspiring change. A certain degree of dissatisfaction keeps you fighting, striving, building, and conquering

Pain and suffering teach you to pay attention when you’re being careless, show you what’s good for you versus what’s bad for you, and help you understand your limitations. Pain is an indication of something being out of equilibrium so you can recalibrate.

Hope you have enjoyed it.

Behavioral Psychology You Should Know.

 1. Bandwagon Effect.

- You are more likely to adopt an idea or belief as it increases in popularity among people. When everyone is doing something, there is pressure to conform. For Eg., You begin wearing a certain style of clothing as you see others adopt the same fashions.

2. Forer Effect or Barnum Effect. - You easily attribute your personalities to vague statements, even if they can apply to a wide range of people. For Eg., Reading your horoscope in a newspaper and realizing it's surprisingly accurate.

3. Dunning Kruger Effect. - You overestimate your abilities when you know nothing, but you underestimate your abilities when you know everything. For Eg., People who know relatively little about politics and government are more likely than others to overestimate their knowledge

5. Bystander Effect. - When an emergency situation occurs, you are more likely to take action if there are few or no witnesses. In case of a large crowd, You are less likely to take action For eg., You are less likely to help a victim when there are other people present to help.

6. Stereotyping. - You judge a person based on preconceived ideas or images regarding the behavior and characteristics of a particular group. For Eg., a Person wearing glasses will be preconceived as a nerd.

7. Anchoring Bias. - You rely too heavily on one piece of information when making decisions (usually the first piece of information acquired on that subject) For eg., If you first see a T-shirt that costs $500, then see one that costs $100, you see the second shirt as cheap.

8. Hindsight Bias. - You tend to see past events as being predictable at the time those events happened. For Eg., Before the Event: I think this stock will increase in value but I am not sure. After the stock rises by 50%: I knew it would rise. I was certain.

9. Diderot Effect. - If you buy something new, you will feel compelled to buy more items that are related to the new one. For Eg., You buy a new dress and now you have to get accessories to match.

10. Sleeper Effect. - You get a delayed change in your attitude when you are persuaded by an advertisement or a message, over time even though you are against it at first. For Eg., an Intentional portrait of a negative image about one candidate by another during elections.

4 Reasons why you need to swallow your pride and ask for help

Most people prefer to look good in their "perfect" image than to look stupid by asking for help.

They will rather suffer within than let another person in to help solve their problems.
This attitude most often leads to stagnation, killing you slowly in the long term. Stay tuned as I walk you through the reasons why asking for help makes you a stronger being rather than being seen as a weakling

3. Teams are often better than individuals. Working with a team increases your chances of succeeding than working alone.

4. It develops a growth mindset: The key to improving is feeling connected to others and learning new things. Isolation often leads to worry, doubt and stress.

8 LESSONS PEOPLE LEARN TOO LATE IN LIFE

 1. Important People Come and Go, and that's Okay

Unfortunately, the most important people in your life can become strangers overnight.

Fortunately, total strangers can become the most important people in your life overnight.

This process hurts, but if accepted, it serves to improve the quality and suitability of the people in your life.

2. Your Diet is not just what you eat.

As you get older you realize that your diet isn't just what you eat, it's what you watch, what you read, who you follow, and who you spend your time with.

So if your goal is to have a healthier mind, you have to start by removing all the junk from your Diet.

3.You have to let people down to be happy.

You and your mental health are more important than your career, more money, other people's opinion, that even you said you would attend, your partners' mood and your family's wishes.

If taking care of yourself means letting someone down, then let someone down.

Your self-love must always be stronger than your desire to be loved by others.

4.Never let rejection lead to Self-Rejection

A person who has experienced rejection fear rejection and a person that fears rejection tends to push or run away before they can be rejected.

In their subconscious mind, they have avoided rejection.

In reality, they have been rejected again this time by themselves.

5.Own your responsibilities, own your future.

You are not responsible for your trauma but you are responsible for breaking the cycle and not hurting more people because of what happened to you.

You will never control your future if you let your present be controlled by your past.

What happened yesterday may not be your responsibility, but how you behave today is.

6.Quality over Quantity

Life is about quality, not Quantity.

One quality friend gives you more than 100 acquaintances

One quality experience gives more than 100 drunken nights.

Obsessing over the things that society said you're "supposed to do" will kill your Happiness.

or get a job at 21,

or buy a hose at 25,

or get married at 30,

or have kids at 35.

Everyone is different, and your path to happiness will be too.

8. Fun is yours

if you want to enjoy your life, don't subscribe to other people's definition of "Fun".

The fun doesn't have to mean drinking, partying, and socializing.

Fun can be a night in alone,

getting lost in a book,

a deep conversation,

a walk,

creating art,

playing music or doing work that you love.

Your fun belongs to you, make sure you define it.
