The most fundamental strength of India is that we are a land of seekers. Seekers of truth and liberation. Not a land of believers. We are a Godless nation. - SADGURU
THE CURRENT INDIA - 2014 - AMBIKA P MISHRA
We listen a lot from our Dharma GURU about the Glory of SPIRITUALITY of our country,INDIA, demeaning western countries, specially AMERICA. But I am surprised and pained to see that people of America in general are far a head in practice of MORALITY and honesty. Majority of people in our country are used to corruption. They do not feel guilty indulging in corrupt practices, making wealth by wrong means. Unfortunately, such corrupt people are not isolated, society give them undue respect, recognition. A leader in BIHAR, convicted for FIVE years Imprisonment for serious CORRUPTION/ scam, presently on bail gets welcome like HERO by large number of people and even by the media. This shows the character of large section of society in the country. In America or in any western country such convicted person, are despised, do not get social recognition.
People in America, in general are more helping than and less selfish than people in our country. This I am saying on the basis of personal experience. There is lot of exploitation here. One can witness such exploitation in case of children and poor and a section of people(wrongly) called down trodden. There is discrimination on the ground of caste since many centuries, which is a blot on the humanity. We boast of equality, sing song of GITA but do not practice ourselves in our lives. This is height of hypocrisy.
To boast, that we are country of seekers of TRUTH, may be in principles but (at present) definitely not in practice.
We need to give a SERIOUS thought to this factual position INTELLECTUALLY, SINCERELY and HONESTLY .
The golden rule, "do unto others as you would have others do unto you".
In my opinion, all acts which prove right to this golden rule, may be included in MORALITY. Of all moral values; Honesty and Compassion are of utmost importance.
It is painful to note that there had been tremendous down fall in these values in the people of our country INDIA during last 4-5 decades.
I originally come from a village of INDIA. I have seen the mind set of people 5 decades earlier and when I go to my village Once or twice in a year and see the overall change in the mind set now, it is shocking. Now people do not hesitate to earn money by dishonest means, people do not hesitate to deceive, do not hesitate to become false witness. The education system at primary level is pathetic. Children are inculcated dishonesty, telling lies, cheating, not doing duty sincerely, making money by foul means fearlessly, shamelessly from the school itself. Many schools are run to pass children on contract. Mass copying is order of the day. Mass copying in BIHAR, climbing on school building, where exam was going on, by supporters of this evil practice, was seen by the WORLD on TV. This is not limited only to BIHAR but in almost all parts of the country, specially in villages. This all is becoming the way, part of life there. Such is the down fall in moral values.
One can witness so many "Puja Pandals," VERY COSTLY, during DURGA PUJA time, in north INDIA and eastern part of INDIA, with orchestra, loud music and later procession at the end of PUJA, This all had nothing to do with either essence of PUJA, RELIGION or SPIRITUALITY. It's all vulgar show of EGO. Such scenes can be witnessed during GANESH PUJA as well.
There had been tremendous down fall in the COMPASSION of people in general, which can be witnessed all around. People have become more selfish and self centered.
I happen to go to U.S. also. I find people there relatively far more honest and compassionate. I find people helping there, people bother about inconvenience of others. I being INDIAN, is impressed by people there, WHEN they greet "Good Morning" during morning walk, although a stranger for them. I had stayed there with AMERICAN family, I found them caring. They attach importance to help needy ones. I was impressed, WHEN they tell their philosophy of life that make money, work hard to become free so that they can do something for society.
Example of Buffet and founder of MICRO SOFT Company BILL GATES, one of richest ones in the WORLD, is before us, lions share of their wealth is being used as charity all over the World, where as they lead simple life.
It's not that everything in AMERICA is noble but when I compare with present INDIA and mentality of present INDIANS in general, I find people there far a head in the practice of honesty and Compassion as compared to present INDIANS in general. This state of affair is painful but it is the factual position, as I view.
Hope, I am clear to Donna Wise.
According to Dharma SOMASHEKHAR..............
Sadguru “We are a Godless nation.” Absolutely, the word “GOD” is an alien word and a nonexistent concept in Hinduism, there is a major misunderstanding .of Hindu Devatas for gods.
“GOD” in the Abrahamic expression, is THE ALL POWERFUL BEING, who has CREATED the WORLD, runs it and IS an independent Entity. He is the SUPREME BEING who rewards and punishes MAN in accordance with his laid down code of conduct. And promises a Heaven or hell after death.
WHILE In (hinduism) the 33 koti ”DEVATAS” like
Varuna deva , Vayu Deva, Indra Deva , Surya deva, Vana devatha ect (the five elements, their manifestations and different forces in NATURE their manifestations ect .( which runs to 33 koti,/million).who are responsible for the running of the universe.. are called Deva,s.THE English word “GOD” does NOT translate to either to DEVAs or Paramatman. They do not qualify for the Non (hindu) concept of GOD SO, (Hinduism ) does NOT have a “GOD” There is a fundamental difference between THESE ( “god” and Devathas, and Paramathman )
The UNIVERSE (along with ALL the Deva s) is a MANIFESTATION of the Paramathman PARAM= primary, first, -ATHMA.=soul ( it is not a BEING, it is the Spirit /ENERGY) Means the supreme soul, and all souls have come from it. Therefore MAN ( Jeevathman) and Paramathman are ONE and the SAME.
There is no ONE here, punishing or rewarding, MAN, everyone gets the fruit of their OWN actions they call KARMA.
Talks of Swarga, some thing similar to heaven, ruled by Deva Indra (king of the senses, materialistic pleasures ),which again is not the ultimate goal of the (hindu). In fact it is considered a Zone of temptation which a spiritual aspirant needs to bypass to reach the ultimate, they call MUKTHI.Trying to understand a NATIVE culture through a FOREIGN language, which lacks the words (as it lacks the concept), is crippling even the (hindu s) understanding ,more so today as they even THINK in ENGLISH .
