The Harsh Truths One Must Know at start of their Career

 1. The market doesn’t care how much you paid for a stock or what you think is a “fair” valuation.

2. Saying “I’ll be greedy when others are fearful” is much easier than actually doing it when the opportunity arises.

3. Most of what is taught about investing in school is theoretical nonsense. There are very few rich professors. 4. Being emotionally detached from your stocks will save you from a lot of blunders.

5. It is hard to time the markets. Small investors tend to be pessimistic and optimistic precisely at the wrong times. Predicting the short-term direction of the stock market is futile. The long-term returns from stocks are relatively predictable.

6. A 20% loss only requires a 25% gain to get back to even, but a 50% loss requires a 100% gain and a 90% loss requires an astounding 900% gain — just to get back to even.

7. Several famous investors whom we call "legends" have barely beaten an index fund over their careers. In the stock market, huge wealth is not necessarily indicative of big returns.

8. During recessions, elections, and Federal Reserve policy meetings, a lot of people turn economists and become unshakably certain about things they know nothing about. 9. The more comfortable an investment feels, the more likely you are to be crushed.

10. Instead of trading derivatives, intraday, or penny stocks, just light your money on fire. 11. The gap between a great company and a great investment can be miles apart.

12. Don’t worry if you don't understand a big bank's balance sheet. The people running it and their accountants don't know either.

13. There will be seven to 10 recessions over the next 100 years. Don't act surprised when they come.

14. The more someone is on TV, the less likely his or her predictions are to come true.

15. Thirty years ago, there was one hour of market TV per day. Today there are upwards of 18 hours. What changed isn't the volume of news, but the volume of nonsense.16. Professional investors have better information and faster computers than most people. You will never beat them in short-term trading. Don't even try.

16. Professional investors have better information and faster computers than most people. You will never beat them in short-term trading. Don't even try. 17. How much experience a money manager has doesn't tell you much. You can underperform the market for an entire career.

18. The majority of market news is not only useless but also harmful to your financial health. As Mark Twain says about truth: "A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes."

19. Not a single person in the world can predict what the market will do in the short run. Thus, stop trying to Predict the #NIFTY movement or believe in someone who claims to do the same.

20. Professional investing is one of the hardest careers to succeed at, but it has low barriers to entry and requires no credentials. That creates masses of "experts" who have no idea what they are doing

21. When someone claims to get rich quick schemes based on charts, moving averages, head-and-shoulders patterns, or resistance levels, walk away.

22. ......................................................

23. The phrase "double-dip recession" was mentioned 10.8 million times in 2010 and 2011, according to Google. It never came. There were virtually no mentions of "financial collapse" in 2006 and 2007. It did come.

24. The low-cost index fund is one of the most useful financial inventions in history. Boring but beautiful. 25. The most boring companies -- toothpaste, food, bolts -- can make some of the best long-term investments. The most innovative, some of the worst.

28. 30 years from now the NIFTY50 will look nothing like it does today. Companies die and new ones emerge. 29. The real interest rate on 20-year Treasuries is negative, and investors are plowing money into them. Fear can be a much stronger force than arithmetic.

30. Make a brain tattoo of the Buffett quote about progress: "First come the innovators, then come the imitators, then come the idiots." 31. The next recession is never like the last one.

32. The best investors in the world have more of an edge in psychology than in finance. 33. What markets do day to day is overwhelmingly driven by random chance. Attributing explanations to short-term moves or discussing them is like trying to explain lottery numbers.

34. If you have any kind of debt and you are thinking about investing in anything, please stop. 35. “In this business, if you’re respectable, you’re right 6 out of 10 times. You’re never going to be right 9 times out of 10.”

36. There is no accountability in the financial guru’s who come on TV. People who have been wrong about everything for years still draw crowds. 37. Just High income will not make you wealthy, saving and spending responsibly will. 38. Time Is Much More Valuable Than Money.

39. The next time is never like the last time. 40. In expert tennis, 80% of the points are won, while in amateur tennis, 80% are lost. The same is tru

20 Thoughts in 2021

1) Be part of a like-minded group. Applaud different views. Welcome different skills. Build a team mission.

2) Debate. Don’t argue. Share views, opinions. Eliminate heated environments. Agree to disagree, move on.

3) Numbers can’t change you. Cash. Follower count. Assets. Keep your feet on the ground. It can all disappear quickly.

4) If you can’t help for free, you don’t deserve paid work. Help, without expectations. Every action is experience. It somehow pays off.

5) Comparing is nature. Don’t overdo it. Focus on self-motivation, not envy. They aren’t better than you. Never lose confidence. You have the ability.

6) Look backwards to learn. Not regret. Look forward to visualize. Build your game plan. There will be bumps. Find the way.

7) Improving is success. As Henry Ford put it, “No one ever considers themselves an expert if they really know the job”. You aren’t an expert. No stopping. Learn daily.

8) Life is about communities. Search one. Join one. Analyze. Provide value. Climbing the 9-5 is no different to climbing online.

9) Study people. Read through their intentions. Good relationships will skyrocket you. Bad ones will dig you a hole. Decide who needs to go, who needs to stay.

10) Learn from those ahead of you. Let them inspire you. They only started before you.

11) If the spotlight is on you, stay cautious. They will come after you. Give credit to others. Spotlight on them. Victory is not a “one man” game.

12) Set new objectives before achieving your goals. Success can feel empty. Build a never-ending purpose. Avoid “now what?”. Stay alive.

13) Instant gratification does not outweigh emotional pain. Junk food. Alcohol. Material luxuries. Even money in the bank. Search for inner happiness. A meaning to life.

14) You need to work hard. Without forgetting what matters. Your family. Your friends. Your physique. Your mental health. Value all before you lose it all.

15) Read books, while taking action. Street smart vs. book smart. Real life experience beats all. You will figure it out. It’s all timing.

16) Study yourself. Every day. Your emotions. Be in control, as others will see weakness. Note what triggers. Emotional contagion is the new virus.

17) Technology is your best friend. Test. Learn. Make social media your asset. Network. Create more. Consume less. It’s free education.

18) No one has a clue. Everyone learns the go. Including those that have made it. React as you progress. Start. Then look back to say, “I have made it”. You still won’t know how.

19) Less daily decisions works best. Look to automate. Fix processes. Daily habits. Overthinking is synonym of stress. Think less. Focus on importance.

20) Learn to sell. Sell products. Sell your skills. Life is relationships. Master sales. You will never be out of a job.

Fear is the way the world works.
Lie 13:
If you do not have something smart to say, don't open your mouth.
Ask for permission.
Question whether you really need to ask that?
At the risk of coming across as dumb.
Lie 14:
Always have a plan.
ALWAYS!
If plan A doesn't work, then plan B.
If plan B doesn't work, then plan C.
Always have a plan.
If you don't have one, you are never going to make it.
Lie 15:
Read as many books as you can.
There is so much to read.
Read fast.

Read multiple.
Listen to books if you can't read.
Finish that god damn book, will you!
And fast!
Lie 16:
Fake it till you make it.
The world loves to see perfection.
The world doesn't like imperfect people, imperfect bodies, imperfect actions, imperfect trajectories.
Hide your mistakes.
Show your wins.
Only your wins.
And if you don't have, show you have them!
Lie 17:
If you are in your late 20s or 30s or 40s and still confused with what you should do in life, you are a disgrace.
Life's only purpose is to, as quickly as possible, know what you want from life.
Lie 18:
As a fresher, you do not have hope in hell of getting noticed.
Just work, don't ask questions, don't challenge, say yes to your boss, don't try to be too friendly.
The key is to stick around.
And lay low.
Lie 19:
Find your tribe.
People who think like you, act like you, come from the same background as you and have had the same experiences as you.
That is where you belong.
With people who are like you.
Lie 20:
If you don't lie, don't steal, don't hurt, don't kill, don't cheat, don't drink, don't smoke, don't party
good things will happen to you
Because destiny is good to those who are good
I recall as a kid being curious and constantly asking my parents questions
"What will happen if I get a job?"
"Why are we there on this planet?"
"What happens when we die?"

They didn't have the answers.
Nor did the world have the answers, when a lot of us asked the same questions.

So the world came up with rules.
Prescriptions.
A way of doing things.
Which soon became, the right way and the wrong way.
The right ways were celebrated. The wrong ways became a taboo.
And over years, people stopped asking why.
Why is that right?
Why is that wrong?

I have found most of my progress hidden in the answers to these 2 questions

Because I have found, nothing is as right or as wrong as people make it to be.
Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.

Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again.

From driving mentor's car to steering railways, tracing Sharief's journey

A seven-time Lok Sabha member from Bengaluru North constituency, Sharief showed his complete loyalty again to Indira Gandhi against the then-popular Karnataka chief minister Devraj Urs, who parted way

From driving the car of his political mentor and former chief minister S Nijalingappa to steering India's Railway Ministry, veteran C K Jaffer Sharief's growth in and his unflinching loyalty to the party is widely admired.

Popularly called "Jaffer bhai" in the political circles of his times, Sharief was a staunch loyalist of Indira Gandhi, who stood with her through thick and thin, and it also paid him rich political dividends.

Challakere Kareem Jaffer Sharief was born on November 3, 1933 at Challakere of Chitradurga in the then Kingdom of Mysore. He was associated with the from his adolescence.

Though his growth in the was under Nijalingappa's mentorship, Sharief sided with when the party split in the 1969, after she was expelled from the organisation for violating the party discipline.

Sharief was rewarded a ticket to contest 1971 mid-term polls.

A seven-time member from Bengaluru North constituency, Sharief showed his complete loyalty again to against the then popular chief minister Devraj Urs, who parted ways with her in 1978. was out of power then.

This earned a reward for Sharief who was inducted into the cabinet as minister of state for railways by her in 1980.

He also served as the minister of state for coal in the Rajiv Gandhi government, and then went on to serve as the railways minister in the P V Narasimha Rao-led cabinet from 199195. His work towards gauge conversion during his stint as the was widely acknowledged.

Ever noticed 'VT' on your flight? Here's what it stands for

All the domestic airlines, from IndiGo to Jet Airways have the prefix, which is followed by unique alphabets.

The code is generally seen just before the rear exit door and above the windows.

If you are a frequent flyer, you may have noticed 'VT' written on every aircraft. But despite noticing, very few of us actually care to know about the little details we notice. So what does it mean?

The prefix 'VT' stands for Victorian or Viceroy Territory, which is the nationality code that each aircraft registered in India is required to carry. The code is generally seen just before the rear exit door and above the windows.

All the domestic airlines, from IndiGo to Jet Airways have the prefix, which is followed by unique alphabets that define the aircraft and who it belongs to. For example, on all IndiGo flights the registration VT is followed by IDV, i.e VT-IDV,  for Jet, it is VT-JMV.

The prefix marks that the aircraft has been registered in the country. It is mandatory in all countries. The registration of the aircraft is required to appear in its Certificate of Registration and an aircraft can only have one registration in one jurisdiction.

The registration is as per international laws, every aircraft must specify which country and airline it belongs to, using a unique alpha-numeric code, which is of five characters, that is in IndiGo's case, VT-IDV. In simple words, the call sign or the registration code is for the identification of the aircraft.

The Britain set the prefix 'VT' for India before the partition in 1929. The British set the code for all the colonies starting with V. However, countries like China, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka changed their codes later. While in India, the prefix has remained on the aircraft even after 90 years, which caused a lot of commotion in 2016 with BJP member Tarun Vijay saying that the registration number of Indian aircraft marks the legacy of 'British Raj'.

"The 'VT' code has a reflection of colonial rule," he said, adding "Hindustan cannot be a territory of the Viceroy. Why India is continuing with VT code? VT should be changed right away".

However, the efforts of the Indian government to change the registration code have been fruitless. In 2004, the aviation ministry had approached the International Civil Aviation Organisation or ICAO to change the code but no decision has been taken taken so far.

BRAND Archetypes through lens -Indian-Brands

There has been so much already written about brand archetypes and this is certainly not one more of those articles. In fact, this is rather ...
